Jailbreak iOS 4.1 iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch 2G with Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 on Windows

Earlier today, iH8sn0w released Sn0wbreeze 2.0 and later updated to version 2.0.1 that apparently fixes iTunes Error 37 on iPhone 3G while trying to restore to the custom firmware file. with Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1 you can easily jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone Touch 3G and iPod Touch 2G (both MC and Non-MC Models) running iOS 4.1 firmware on Windows. Make sure your iPhone or iPod Touch is already jailbroken. Follow simple instructions listed below in order to jailbreak the iPhone or iPod Touch on iOS 4.1 using Sn0wbreeze 2.0.1.

Requirements

Sn0wbreeze 2.0 jailbreak tool is compatible with following devices

Step 1: Launch Sn0wbreeze (Windows Vista or Windows7 users must start the application in Administrator mode. To do so, click the right mouse button on the icon and selecting “Run as administrator”) and connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your PC via USB. you will notice the following screen.

Step 2: Here we have a choice between the simple mode and expert mode: Select  ”Expert Mode” and continue.

Step 3: At this point we have to choose the firmware: click on “Browse” and select the original 4.1 firmware we downloaded earlier, then clicking on “Open”. The application will automatically detect the device which is required to be jailbroken.

Step 4: in case of iPhone 3G with new iBoot, the device must be already jailbroken on iOS 3.1.2 and if you have a newer version, you cannot use this program. Those who have the old iBoot but already jailbroken using Spirit or jailbreakme, install Spirit2Pwn before you install iOS 4.1. Install Spirit2Pwn R2 version if you have jailbroken your iPhone 3G iOS 3.1.3 with Spirit tool or install Spirit2Pwn R3 version if you have jailbroken your iPhone 3G iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 using jailbreakme star.

Step 5: once you click on the Understand, Sn0wbreeze check the firmware and if it is correct. once the 4.1 IPSW is verified click the blue arrow button to continue.

Step 6: in this new screen, click on the “General” and continue.

Step 7: Now you will be confronted with the following screen: Here:

• If you have an iPhone 3GS (factory unlocked) or are on an officially supported carrier like AT&T: DO NOT select “Activate the iPhone”
• The root partition is at your discretion.
• You can also select Advance options like enable multitasking, backgrounds and battery percentage. But it is advisable not to enable them as it will slow down your iPhone 3G.

When you finish choosing options suited to you, move forward. Sn0wbreeze does not update the baseband of iOS 4.1 firmware and you will have the baseband of the previous one.

Step 8: Now, choose package installer from Cydia and Rock for your Phone. Select Cydia. Move forward to continue.

Step 9: It’s time to choose packages to be included in your firmware. just skip and continue.

Step 10: after entering the preferred package you will be prompted to choose custom boot logos.

Step 11: after you are finished with all the customizations! Now proceed with the creation of the firmware, click on “Build IPSW”. Wait till the process is completed.

Step 12: Put the iPhone in recovery mode (or DFU as appropriate).

• Turn off the device while connected to your computer
• Click the Home + Power button for 10 seconds then release only the power button while continuing to press the Home button.

• Click Home + Power until the cable icon appears on screen itunes. during this operation, the iPhone will turn off a few times. Continue to press the keys without ever releasing them until their screen.

Step 13: Open iTunes and will show a warning message where there is informed that you have connected an iPhone in recovery mode, click OK and go forward.

Step 14: Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, click with the mouse on the Restore button in iTunes.

Step 15: Select the firmware called “sn0wbreeze_iPhone_XXX” and confirm. after a few minutes you will have the jailbroken Firmware iOS 4.1 installed on iPhone 3GS or iPod 2G, 3G.
